These maps show the general distribution of carvings along the shoreline and where they cluster.
The numbers on the maps indicate roughly the number of blocks with carvings at that spot, not the number of carvings. There are more than 1,000 different carvings at Morgan Shoal, since many blocks include multiple carvings. (When there is no number next to a photo icon that means it’s a single block at that spot.)
Note that some of these blocks have shifted locations since I took the photos, whether from the emergency repairs of 2020 or from natural causes.
The densest clusters are at the 49th Street Beach House and just to its south, though there are significant carvings to the north and south as well. The carvings between the beach house and the lake are of note because unlike carvings elsewhere along the lake, these are on rocks laid flush with the ground, more like large paving stones than revetments.
