From Istanbul and along the coast Turkey seems rich in ancient graffiti. My favorites were carved on marble pillars at Perge. Like many similar rock carvings, they can be hard to see, but take a closer look to find images of gladiators. We’ll start, though, at Istanbul’s Hagia Sophia.
